Forklift Operator
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the internal transport of raw and finished pipe products within the warehouse and outside yard. Additionally, the Forklift Operator is responsible for proper bundling, labeling, and organization of the pipe.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Loading, unloading, shipping and receiving raw and finished pipe
- Transporting raw and finished materials to different locations within the facility
- Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency
- Securing loads to machine before transportation
- Picking and bundling orders for shipment
- Adhering to safety management standards
- Adhering to production schedules
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to effectively operate and maintain forklift equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend direction in both written and verbal form
- Must be able to dimension material thickness and part dimensions accurately
- Must be able to read and understand prints
- Must be able to read and understand measuring devices
- Basic math skills required
- Effectively prioritize, schedule, and review work
- Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Work independently with little direction
- Meet schedules and timelines
- Maintain routine records
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar role preferred
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
Compensation
- Range from $18-25/hour
- All rates are based on experience
